Russell Spencer Hines and his wife Kitty used funds that Hines acquired from his mining business to build this mansion in 1895. Over the years the building served as an apartment house, an antique boutique, and housed various restaurants. Douglas K. Hardy renovated the building between 1975 and 1978, adding the first-level wings and a copy of the original cupola that had been removed years earlier. The mansion became a bed and breakfast in 1995 and the current owners, Kyle and Michelle Schick, continue this tradition.
